Cities
Quando ho dato vita a Cities, ho deciso di usare solo il mio smartphone per avere massima spontaneità. Il fulcro del progetto sono i lampioni: li fotografo in ogni contesto urbano, di giorno o di notte, per coglierne le forme, i riflessi e le ombre che disegnano la città.
Ogni scatto è un istante rubato alla routine: un lampione isolato al sorgere del sole, una fila di luci che si allunga sul marciapiede, il bagliore giallo nella nebbia. Con il telefono sempre a portata di mano, sono libera di inseguire quell’atmosfera sospesa che solo un lampione, acceso o spento, può creare.
Per me la città si racconta attraverso quei pali di luce: diventano architetture minime che accendono la narrazione urbana. In “Cities” cerco di esprimere il dialogo tra luce e ombra, tra funzionalità e poesia, tessendo un racconto fatto di dettagli luminosi e silenzi notturni.
When I created Cities, I chose to work exclusively with my smartphone to keep things spontaneous. The heart of the project is the street lamp: I photograph it in every urban setting, day or night, to capture its shapes, reflections, and the shadows it casts.
Each shot is a moment stolen from the city’s rhythm: a solitary lamp at sunrise, a row of lights stretching down the pavement, the yellow glow in the fog. With my phone always at hand, I’m free to chase that suspended atmosphere only a street lamp—lit or unlit—can create.
To me, the city speaks through these poles of light: they become minimal sculptures that illuminate the urban story. In “Cities,” I aim to express the dialogue between light and shadow, function and poetry, weaving a narrative of luminous details and nocturnal silences.
